Message Server Installation

This document will explain how to install The Message Server for Sprinter 2000.

1. Introduction

The message server is used for sending emails, processing Minihouse return messages, or communicating with Truck24 or CarrierWeb from a central point instead of that all clients communicate. This speeds up the process on the clients.

2. Set up.

Before you can use the Message server you have to purchase a new license code in order for the server to work. To do this you can contact the staff from CDS. When you have purchased a license code you will be given a download location and you can proceed with downloading the software and installing.

Installing:
First make sure that you install the message server on the SERVER where Sprinter2000 is installed!!! Ask your system administrator for more information in case you have doubts.
Double click the setup file and follow the instructions. During those instructions you have to confirm the installation path. Be sure that this is the same path as the Sprinter2000 installation path. (example: D:\spr2000)

When the installation is completed it will install and start the Message Server as a service as you will see that an icon will appear in your system tray.

Right click on this icon and choose SHOW. A window will appear. Choose " Settings " on the bottom of this window and a warning will appear mentioning that you have to restart the service after the settings we are about to make. And then notepad will appear.

Find the settings:
[Email]
SmtpServerAddress=smtp.server.com
SmtpServerPort=25
EmailingMoveNumberOfEmails=50
EmailingMoveIntervalInMinutes=5

The only setting that needs to be altered is SmtpServerAddress.
Fill in the same smtp server that you use for your regular email traffic (outlook).
(example: smtp.yourprovider.com)

The SmtpServerPort has to be 25

EmailingMoveNumberOfEmails=50
EmailingMoveIntervalInMinutes=5

These settings mean that the Message Server will send 50 emails every 5 minutes maximum. It is advised to leave it like this! Some providers will see you as a spammer if you increase the number of emails!

Close this document and be sure to save the new settings!

You will return to the previous window and here you will have to click on
‘Start as Service’. This way we restart the Message Server with the new settings.

3. Configuring Sprinter2000 for the Message Server

In order to use the Message Server, Sprinter 2000 needs some configuration.
Start Sprinter 2000 and go to:
System > Options and search for MSGSRV and tick ‘Logic’ at the bottom of the window. Do the same for PODMSGSRV if you use the Tracking & Tracing system.

The message server is now ready for use.

The Message Server can also be used to send bulk e-mail to your customers.
See the manual: ‘Sending Bulk E-mail’ for further instructions about bulk emailing.
